UVA RADIO is a community-based radio station which was started on 02nd March 2003. Main studio complex established in Bandarawela and studio complex consist 4 main studios called ONAIR, PRODUCTION, DISCUSSION and EDITING. It was started with the collaboration of SLBC, UNDP, UNESCO and UVA provincial council.
In the beginning radio station was use “UVA COMMUNITY RADIO” as its official name but due to the change of its aspects and listening area, now “UVA RADIO” use as its official name. UVA RADIO transmit its programs both Sinhala and Tamil languages. 97.6MHz frequency use to transmit the programs and basically this program covers Education, News, Sports, Business, Cultural, Entertainment, Music areas.
UVA Radio transmits its program from 0530 am to midnight 1200 and covers the UVA, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Eastern, Southern and North central provinces of Srilanka. From Monday to Friday Sinhala language program off the air from 0530 to 1900 hrs and Tamil medium programs off the air from 1900 to 2400 hrs. On every Saturday Tamil medium programs off the air from 0530 to 2400 hrs and on every Sunday Sinhala medium programs off the air from 0530 to 2400 hrs.
13 program producers support for program production, announcing, editing and recording of radio programs in both Sinhala and Tamil language. In addition to that other staff support for administration in UVA RADIO.
